A Message from Knoxville
Greetings. On behalf of the citizens of Knoxville, We would like to welcome you to our community. Knoxville is located 35 miles southeast of our Capital City, Des Moines, in the gentle rolling hills of South Central Iowa. Knoxville’s top rated school system, modern medical facility, outstanding recreational opportunities, abundant rich farmland, picturesque woodlands, and short distance to the shores of Iowa’s largest lake, Lake Red Rock, makes our community a great place to live, work, and play.
Knoxville has a strong, diverse economic base that is sustained by a combination of light manufacturing, agriculture, and tourism. Our skilled labor force is highly valued because of its strong work ethic and outstanding productivity.
Knoxville is home to the Knoxville Raceway – “Sprint Car Capital of the World” and the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum. The Raceway has weekly sprint car racing shows starting in late April and culminates with the internationally renowned Knoxville Nationals in early August. The one-half mile oval dirt track is also home to late model racing and the growing Lucas Nationals in early fall.
We encourage you to take time to explore this website and the many aspects of our community. If there is anything we can do to help you become better acquainted with Knoxville, please don’t hesitate to contact the Chamber Staff at any time.
